Le président du Tchad, Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, a réaffirmé sa volonté de lutter sans relâche contre la menace terroriste. Dans un message publié sur Facebook, il a déclaré : « Notre combat contre ce fléau se poursuivra avec une fermeté inébranlable, jusqu’à son éradication complète », en réaction à l’attaque récente menée par une faction de Boko Haram sur la base militaire de Barka Tolorom, située sur la rive tchadienne du lac Tchad. Cet assaut a coûté la vie à 24 soldats tchadiens.
